Town Hall
Host Your Own
We will help you create town halls to allow students to advocate and demand action from school board members. Additionally, since most students can't legally vote for school board members, we also host Town Halls for students to speak with School Board candidates.
If desired, we also assist in helping students gain the opportunity to interview school board members and board candidates in a one-on-one format to make the dialogue more impactful and productive.
ABOUT THE INITIATIVE
-
The Texas Student Union created the initative in order to amplify student voices and ensure that our thoughts are heard.
-
You must be a member of the Texas Student Union in order to host a Town Hall.
-
We allow students of all ages to host Town Halls.
-
Although we provide extensive help and support during the planning phase, you will be expected to personally dedicate approximately 2 hours a week towards the planning phase and handle all on-site logistics.
-
Town Halls can be held either in-person or through a virtual meeting platform.
-
Lastly, we encourage all student leaders to request our support and to help ensure that all students are represented in their education.
SKILLS YOU'll DEVELOP
-
You will develop more effective communication skills, professional leadership skills, critical thinking and writing expertise, equal and balanced collaboration across teams, public oration, and grassroots organizing techniques through hosting a Town Hall.
WHAT YOU GAIN
-
You will earn valuable letters of recommendation from team leaders and those they worked closest with, become eligible to win prizes and awards from inductees, and widen their networking scope with a state-wide organization.
